Adding Traceability Information

In this section you will discover how to add full traceability information to your labels.  This is specifically aimed at meat, fish, and seafood products.  To simply add the "Country of Origin" please use the country of origin field on the info tab of your product.

NOTE: For meat, fish, and seafood products it is usually not enough to simply state the country of origin. For information regarding full traceability information for meat, fish, or seafood products please see the guideance here: Food labelling: country of origin.

In the example below we have a product called "Traceability Example" which has 3 ingredients that require traceability information.  These are: Beef Mince, Chicken Breast, and Pork Fillet.  To add traceability information to the final product, we first need to add the relevant information on each ingredient.  To do so we will be adding custom fields to each ingredient.  To add a custom field:

  • Navigate to 'Ingredients' from the main menu.
  • Click on the ingredient in which you want to add traceability information to.
  • Navigate to the "...Other" tab, and click on "Custom Fields" on the left hand menu within this tab.
  • Type in the name of the custom field, for example: "Born In" and the value, for example: "UK".
  • Add a new custom field for each piece of traceability information.  For example: country of cutting, county of slaughter, etc.
TIP: Please ensure that any custom fields that are the "same" are all named/typed exactly the same. For example, for born in information do not have one custom field as "Born In" and others as "Country of Birth, "Born", etc.

Once you have added all your required traceability custom fields to all the ingredients within your product, navigate to the final product, click the "...Other" tab, and click on "custom fields".  Here you will see a list of your Ingredient Custom Fields, which shows a list of the ingredients in your recipe which have custom fields attached to them.
Beside each ingredient custom field you will see the cusom field label template code.  For example: my "Born In" custom fields have the following label template code: [bornIn].  This is what will be added to the label template to display the custom field for these ingredients, and will need to be provided to Bludot Support in order to add this to your label template.
You should check that the label template codes for each custom field of the same type (for example "born in" information) are the same.  If not, you may need to edit or re-add the custom field to the ingredient, making sure it is in the same format as the other fields of the same type.

While in the Custom Fields section for the final product, you may which to add a new custom field on the product if you require something like batch codes.  For example:  If you added batch codes to your products in the format "Batch code: 123ABC" we would simply add a custom field called "Batch Code" and give it a value "123ABC".  The value can then be edited in Print Station before printing so that each batch can have a unique code.
