Basic Compound Ingredients

What is a compound ingredient?

A compound ingredient is an ingredient that contains other ingredients, for example, a BBQ sauce. If this is a compound ingredient that you buy straight from a supplier the likelihood is that you do not know the exact weights of the compounds. For this we will create a Basic Compound Ingredient. To specify the weights of each compound, for example a sauce that you make in house and then use in other recipes, please see Advanced Compound Ingredients.

Creating a Basic Compound Ingredient is simple:
  • Create a new ingredient as usual.
  • Click into the ingredient and navigate to the 'Compouds' tab.
  • Click the '+' icon to specify an ingredient contained in the compound ingredient.
  • Specify the ingredient name, and choose any allergens that this particular ingredient contains
  • Repeat this for all ingredients contained in the compound ingredient.
TIP: You will notice that your allergens update with the allergens defined in your compound ingredient list. You will still need to specify the nutritional information for the compound ingredient.

  • Once you have all the information filled in, make sure to mark the ingredient as 'Enabled' on the Info tab so you can use this ingredient in your recipes.
