Creating New Products
In this section you will discover how to create a new product, add ingredients into your recipes, and see how the nutritional information and allergens automatically update You will also get an overview of costings for your products where you can see your profit based on your sale price and ingredient price.
You will discover here just how important it is to have accurate and up to date ingredients as these are what drive your products, recipes, and costings.
- Navigate to 'Products' from the main menu.
- Click on the green 'New Product' button located in the top right hand corner.
- Enter basic ingredient details in the modal window.
- Click 'Create'. The new product has been created.
- Fill in the item information.
- Navigate to the "Recipe" tab. Here you can add Ingredients and Aliases to your Recipe by clicking on them from the "Ingredients & Aliases" list.
- Once you click on an Ingredient or Alias you will be prompted for the quantity (in grams). Enter the quantity and click on the "Add Item" button to add this to your recipe.
TIP: Try creating and adding aliases into your recipes instead of ingredients. By thinking ahead to what ingredients that you might what to change/substitute in the future, and creating aliases for them early, you will save time later. See the Aliases section for more information.
- Repeat this for all Ingredients or Aliases contained in your recipe.
- You can also add in cooking (kitchen/chef) directions to your recipe. Simply enter these in the "Cooking Directions" text box and click "Save Recipe".
- To delete an ingredient simply set the weight to zero (0) and it will be removed from the list.
- Once you have all the ingredients added to your recipe, if you navigate to the "Nutritionals" tab and the "Allergens" tab you will notice that these have now been updated with the nutritional and allergen information contained in your ingredients.
- Once you are satisfied with your newly created product you must enable the product before you can use it to print a label. To do this navigate to the "Info" tab and toggle the "Enabled?" button to the on position.
- Here you will be prompted to confirm that all ingredients, nutritional information, and allergens are correct.
WARNING: Don't forget to include any cooking oils, fats, seasonings, or anything else used in the preparation of your product. This is critical for providing accurate allergen information on your products.
